Former Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been shortlisted alongside three others to succeed Luis Enrique at Barcelona.
Alejandro Valverde, Eusebio Sacristan, Juan Carlos Unzue are the other
names under consideration by the club’s board, ahead of the decision in
April.
According to the club’s technical director, Robert Fernandez, efforts
are also being made to retain Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta at the
Camp Nou.
Spanish paper Deportivo Mundo reports
that the Spanish giants cut down the long list of candidates for the
position to four as regards their beliefs are towards the Blaugrana‘s
footballing philosophy.
As club
president Josep Maria Bartomeu heads into his final four years at the
club, the board has insisted that they are keen to appointing someone
who is capable of handling tough situations.
Barca
chiefs are also worried about their ageing squad and want someone who
can get the best out of Iniesta and Javier Mascherano as the duo
approach the final phase of their respective careers.

Champions League round of 16 first leg tie on Valentines Day; but he led
the side to an emphatic 6 – 1 win in the reverse fixture to pull the
greatest comeback in the UEFA Champions League history.
